“It’s never easy to start a new project, but it’s really fun to go through it all with my sister. We’ve been charmed by their clientele and animals.”
– Mylène Bériault, co-franchisee of Boutique d’animaux Chico on Monseigneur Langlois Boulevard in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
A family experience
It all started with Jonathan Leblanc and Roxanne Laurin, Mylène’s son and his wife, who wanted to open a Chico store in Saint-Anne-des-Plaines. While thinking about opening a boutique of their own, they helped Jonathan and Roxanne for their opening. They instantly fell in love with the business and its clientele! For Lyne and Mylène, this is a first joint project, but they have the same vision: the customer and his animal come first.
Giving back to society
The sisters have been approached by a local organization to offer internships to students with learning difficulties in order to help and provide opportunity for success to all. They also plan to partner with local shelters to give animals a second life.
A bit of history
The first Chico store was founded over 35 years ago in the Hochelaga neighbourhood. Today, the company has over 70 franchises in Quebec. The Chico network experienced spectacular growth in 2008. Since then, many entrepreneurs with a passion for animals have chosen to join the Chico family by becoming franchisees. Boutiques d’animaux Chico is now the largest chain of neighbourhood pet stores in Quebec.
